Leonardo English is a website for learners of English who are interested in improving their language skills while learning about the world.
It was opened at the end of 2019 by Alastair Budge, a startup marketer and entrepreneur from the UK.
Alastair is the host of a brilliant podcast show called “English for Curious Minds” and he has a blog too where you’ll find – in Alastair’s own words – “from tips on language learning, partnerships, news, and an insider view on how we produce our podcasts.”
While I was browsing the blog, I found two interesting articles: one about tips on how to use ChatGPT to improve your English and another one where you can read an interview with a learner of English like you.
I’m sure you’ll find other great stories there.
2. Leo-Listening
Don’t get confused.
Leo isn't short for Leonardo but for Leopold.
Cara Leopold is an English teacher from Scotland who helps movie-loving English learners understand and discuss iconic films together so they can improve their English listening, speaking and pronunciation skills.
She is the founder of Leo-Listening, the most amazing website for adult English learners who want to improve their English through movies.
On her blog you can read articles about:

Fabio Cerpelloni is an English teacher from Italy who believes that reading books isn’t just a hobby but an essential activity for personal and language development.
This is why he organizes self-development book clubs for advanced speakers of English.
Fabio is a Top Writer in Education on a blogging platform called Medium but also has an interesting blog on his website where you can read articles and inspiring stories about language learning and self-development.
If you’re the kind of person who thinks that a day without learning is a day wasted, Fabio’s blog is definitely worth a visit.
4. Derek Sivers’ Blog
Derek Sivers is a modern philosopher. What do I mean by that? Here are three of his quotes to give you an idea:

This is great to improve your pronunciation and notice the differences between the spoken and written form of words.

Do you like writing or would you like to improve your writing, or both?
If so, Enchanting Marketing is the perfect blog for that.
It’s written by Henneke Duistermaat, a famous blogger and copywriter who helps you make your writing persuasive and conversational.
Enchanting Marketing focuses on business writing, but it’s also a useful blog for you if you’re interested in creating engaging and well-written texts for an online audience in general.

But that’s not all.

This is another great blog for curious minds where you’ll find a variety of articles about:

and many other topics.
Their About page reads, “HowStuffWorks explains the curiosities of our world, delving into everything from cyber security and housecleaning tips to the physics of black holes and the history of slang.”
Cool, huh?
The articles are written by real experts in their fields so the level of difficulty might be high if you’re not an Upper-Intermediate or Advanced learner.
There’s no harm in trying though.
9. Matthew Dicks’ Blog
Matthew Dicks is an American novelist, writer, master storyteller, and elementary school teacher.
He writes a blog post every single day but his posts don’t focus on a specific topic of interest. Matt blogs about anything and everything.
His writing is smooth and easy to read and his ideas are sometimes hilarious, other times thought-provoking.
Given that he publishes a post every single day, you’ll never run out of things to read on his blog.
10. Goodreads
Goodreads is a social media platform for people who love books.
You can connect with other readers, find books, write reviews, keep track of the books you read, and do all things related to reading.
There’s also a blog on the platform where you can read posts written by the community. These are mainly about books, so this is really the best place for you if you’re a book lover.
11. English Through Football
Football fans! You’ve just found your home for learning English at English Through Football!
The people behind the website are Damian Fitzpatrick and Damon Brewster, two football lovers and English teachers from the UK.
They have a blog. This, however, isn’t really a blog as each post is actually the transcription of their podcast episode.
We could call this a “listening blog”.
Reading transcripts while listening is a useful language practice exercise and, if you like football, this can be even more so for you.
12. TED Blog
TED Talks – in case you don’t know – are a series of short, powerful presentations delivered by experts, thought leaders, innovators, and individuals with unique perspectives.
They’re free online and are a great listening resource.
TED, which stands for Technology Entertainment Design, has also a blog – the Ideas Blog – where you’ll find highly informative articles about tech, business, science, arts, and design.
The posts are written by expert people in their fields and they all include ideas worth spreading.
Some of the articles are connected to TED talks. Watching the video first and then reading the article (or the other way round) can not only help you practise two skills at once (reading and listening) but you’ll also get a deeper understanding of the topic being discussed.
13. Nir Eyal’s Blog
Nir Eyal is the author of two nonfiction books titled “Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products” and “Indistractable: How to Control Your Attention and Choose Your Life.”
He has a blog where you’ll find articles about productivity, introspection, habit formation, motivation, and consumer psychology.
