Love Songs In Spanish For Her
1. Reik & Maluma – Perfecta
For their latest releases, Mexican pop rock masters Reik have been successfully venturing into reguetón and Latin pop.
And for this 2021 single they teamed up with Colombian rapper singer Maluma to make the best love song in Spanish.
“You kiss me and I feel how you take me out of the ozone layer,” Maluma raps. And you can feel how this song does the same to you.
2. Andrea Bocelli – Por ti volaré
Originally released in Italian (Con te partirò), the Spanish version is just a tiny part of the colossal success this song has had around the world, topping many charts and being covered by artists such as Donna Summer, Il Divo, or Paloma San Basilio.
The Spanish version, however, is the one that made a very funny appearance in the 2008 comedy Step Brothers, with a pretty bizarre cover by Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
3. Paulo Londra – Adán y Eva
I don’t mean to be rude, but this Spanish song about love is inviting a girl to have their “own sins”.
However, the lyrics written by this Argentine singer also have what might be one of the most complete love proposals you can hear: “Let me take you to your appropriate height/Of your craziness, of your ideas/Of your culture and your science.”
That’s dedication!
4. Rata Blanca – Mujer amante
Yes, a 1990 Hair Metal song. Yes, by a group called Rata Blanca (White Rat). What’s not to like?
The ballad was almost left off their album Magos, espadas y rosas, but it ended up being one of their biggest hits, with over 107 million views on YouTube.
5. Carlos Vives – Robarte un beso (Featuring Sebastián Yatra)
Besides a polite request to steal a kiss, Colombian legend Carlos Vives gives a nod to vallenato in the chorus, the same genre he helped to make insanely popular during the 90s.
In 2017 he scored a new hit with this reguetón single, in the company of none other than Sebastián Yatra.
Love Songs In Spanish For Him
6. Los ángeles azules – El amor de mi vida (Featuring María Becerra)
Moving on in our Spanish love songs tour, the cumbia rhythm of this absolute earworm is irresistible.
But the song also makes you twist the English grammar a little if you want to translate part of the chorus: “I want to make love to you… But the love of my life.” What an awesome collaboration!
7. Rosalía & Alejandro Rauw – Beso
This is one of the many songs about love in Spanish that’s sung by both lovers.
Sure, Rosalía and Alejandro Rauw broke up a few months after this song came out. But that desperate call for another kiss from your partner will be familiar to anyone.
The video, which includes the epic reveal of their engagement at the end, is just another reminder of the good memories you can always keep.
8. Selena – Amor prohibido
This towering single by the queen of Tejano Music describes a romance opposed by society because of the lovers’ different backgrounds.
And it gave Selena her first top place in the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
You don’t need to be fighting for a forbidden romance in your life to feel the power of these lyrics.
9. Eydie Gormé – Sabor a mí
This 1959 bolero written by Álvaro Carrillo has an inherent sensuality in its lyrics that many other artists have tried to capture through the decades.
Some of them are Isabel Pantoja, Luis Miguel, Los Lobos and, more recently, Kali Uchis.
Who could resist singing a chorus that says “I don’t know if eternity has love/But there as well as here/In your mouth you will take the taste of me”?
10. Shakira – Me enamoré
This is one of the many love songs in Spanish in Shakira’s repertoire. It's another music video about a real life relationship that didn’t end well.
But the song is still as infectious as always. And it’s ideal for people celebrating the facial features of their special one, or at least the way things went the first time they met.
Some Old But Everlasting Love Songs In Spanish
11. Consuelo Velázquez – Bésame mucho
Luis Miguel covered it. Frank Sinatra covered it too. Even The Beatles took their shot at it!
I’ll save you some time: it’s the most recorded and covered Spanish language song of all time. Who doesn’t want to get kissed a lot by their crush, anyway?
12. Luis Miguel – No se tú
Armando Manzanero wrote and released this song on his 1986 album Cariñosamente, and was even a co-producer for Luis Miguel's 1991 version.
With these and many other versions that came later, lovers everywhere had the perfect tune to remember the kisses, hugs and the good times they had with each other.
13. Leonardo Favio – O quizás simplemente le regale una rosa
Leonardo Favio was what you would call a triple threat: one of the most famous actors and film directors in Argentina, and even a very popular songwriter in the 70s.
You can feel (and you certainly must have felt some time) his anxiousness and expectations for meeting his loved one.
And you won’t be able to get the backing vocals out of your head that repeat “Y llovía, y llovía” (And it was raining, and it was raining).
14. Osvaldo Farrés – Quizás, quizás, quizás (Nat King Cole’ version)
Another heavily covered song that even became popular in its English (Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps) and French (Qui sait, qui sait, qui sait) versions.
Everyone from Doris Day to indie rock band Cake have tried to uncover the motives of this clearly evasive love interest.
15. César Portillo de la Luz – Contigo en la distancia (Christina Aguilera’ version)
This Spanish love song is a bolero that has been providing passionate words for long-distance relationships since 1946.
But it has also been irresistible to singers who want to showcase their vocal prowess, especially in the chorus: Luis Miguel, José Feliciano, and Il Divo have covered it, among many others.
“Love Hurts”: Love Songs In Spanish About Heartbreak
16. Gilda – Se me ha perdido un corazón
The biggest female icon of Argentine cumbia knew how to get deep.
Just before the chorus, she says how the void that her lost heart left makes her “feel like dying,” but she gives a toast to “the failures of love” anyway.
17. Cristian Castro – No podrás
This Spanish love song was one of Cristian Castro’s first hits. And it has the Mexican singer explaining how he “learned the pain” by the side of the person he's singing to. That sounds tough!
He was so invested in that relationship that, as he assures us in the chorus, his love won’t be forgotten.
18. Gloria Estefan – Cómo me duele perderte
If you need any measure of how it hurts for Gloria Estefan to have lost her lover, just wait for the bridge and listen to her claiming that “Even the universe has died.”
This single topped the Billboard Hot Latin Songs in the year 2000, and has found its place in broken hearts ever since.
19. Juan Gabriel – Hasta que te conocí
“I was very happy, I was living very well,” sings Juan Gabriel at the beginning of this Spanish love song. And the title, “Until I Met You”, should give you a clue about what happened next.
Of course, being Juan Gabriel, you'll get the most colossal, dramatic version of events, and of all the feelings that El Divo de Juárez has for the song’s subject.
20. Shakira – Ciega, sordomuda
This huge hit is one of the best Spanish love songs out there.
It opens Shakira’s most successful Spanish language album, the instant classic ¿Dónde están los ladrones?, and has the Colombian singer losing any “argument” and “methodology” when her loved one’s “anatomy” appears.
From that point on, it can only get worse for her.
More Sad Love Songs In Spanish
21. Chayanne – Y tú te vas
This cover of the classic song by Franco de Vita has Chayanne contemplating how his loved one is leaving him, making his life shorter and, apparently, without honouring a love that was sworn.
The video has him in a much more active role, chasing her to the airport (you’ll have to watch it to see how it ends).
22. Ricky Martin – Te extraño, te olvido, te amo
It’s easy to identify with the unsuccessful quest of trying to forget someone you loved so much.
But it’s hard to put it better than Ricky Martin does in the chorus of this song: “I miss you/I forget about you/I love you again.”
23. Thalía – No me enseñaste
Continuing with the theme of missing someone you love, Mexican powerhouse Thalía offers some very insightful input with this Spanish love song.
“It’s too boring not to be by your side,” she claims in this ballad about the terrible task of learning how to forget.
24. Alejandro Sanz – Amiga mía
Alejandro Sanz was really comforting a friend about her unrequited love for somebody else, and offered his advice with the song.
As he would later explain, “It is based on a real event and shows that it is very dangerous to have composer friends. And I am totally against talking about other people's lives, but she made it so easy for me.”
In the video, he sings from a rooftop and attracts the police’s attention, just like some Liverpool boys did a few decades before.
25. Bad Bunny – Te deseo lo mejor
Even the king of Latin Trap can acknowledge when he has hurt someone, and this song is the melancholic farewell to someone to whom he wishes the best with someone else.
And just to illustrate his point, Bad Bunny traveled to Springfield and gave Homer Simpson some advice about not being glued to his phone all the time.
Love Songs In Spanish: Duets
26. Jennifer Lopez – No me ames (Featuring Marc Anthony)
This duet is a cover of the Italian song “Non Amarmi” by Aleandro Baldi and Francesca Alotta.
And it wouldn’t have happened if Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony hadn't met in the same recording studio where she was recording “On the 6”, the album that the single featured on.
Released as the B-side to “If You Had My Love”, it ended up replacing Ricky Martin’s “Livin’ La Vida Loca” at the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
For the passion it exudes, you understand from the start that the title can’t be trusted that much.
27. Miranda! – Perfecta
Miranda! are already a pop institution in Argentina, and “Perfecta” as a Spanish love song became the perfect hit about friends becoming lovers.
“We were such good friends until today, that I tested your performance in love.” Be careful who you sing this at karaoke with!
28. Carlos Baute – Colgando en tus manos (Featuring Marta Sánchez)
With its charming chorus and beautiful lyrics (which mention the Spanish city of Marbella, Venezuela, and Juan Luis Guerra’s legendary band, 440), this single went on to dominate charts in every Spanish-speaking market, from Spain to Venezuela and then Latin America and the U.S.
29. Thalía – Desde esa noche (Featuring Maluma)
The two characters in this song have spent an unforgettable night together but are very afraid of falling in love.
Luckily for us, Thalía and Maluma intertwine their voices with a burning passion throughout the song, with an amazing call and response during the chorus.
30. Los auténticos decadentes – Amor (Featuring Mon Laferte)
This Argentinian band’s take on the MTV Unplugged series in 2018 gave us this amazing version of their 2000 song, which went on to top the Monitor Latino chart in Argentina.
It gives you chills when it reaches the chorus with the line: “Cierro los ojos y salto al vacío” (I close my eyes and I jump into the void).
