One of the biggest challenges when learning French is finding enough varied study materials to keep you interested over a long period. And fortunately, nowadays, there are more resources available than ever before.
One extremely popular place to go for material to study is YouTube since lots of French YouTubers who are teachers upload videos to help people with their French.
And for more advanced learners, there are also thousands of interesting videos aimed at native speakers.
In fact, sometimes the hardest thing can be deciding which videos to watch. So in this post, I introduce some of the most popular French YouTubers to point you in the right direction.

French YouTubers Who Are French Teachers
There are dozens of great Youtube channels to learn French that can really give your French a boost. And since the videos are produced with learners in mind, they’re suitable for all levels. Here are some to check out.
1. French Mornings With Elisa
If you’re looking for a YouTube channel that delivers regular lessons for you to watch – and one that also has a huge backlog of old lessons for you to check out – French Mornings with Elisa is a great place to start.
What I like about this channel is the variety of videos Elisa uploads, ranging from around three minutes right up to long-format lessons of about an hour.
This means you’ll be able to find short lessons quickly elucidating particular French grammar points or talking about specific grammar topics for example. But there are also lots of more comprehensive lessons aimed at helping you improve more generally.
Most of the videos are in French, but Elisa speaks slowly and clearly and also uses hand gestures well to help learners see what she’s saying, so even beginners will be able to understand her.
She’s an excellent teacher who’s very good at explaining various aspects of French. So you’ll always come away from her videos having learnt something new. Her videos are also very professionally made and are often accompanied by worksheets or exercises.
So in short, if you’re looking for a YouTuber who can help you learn French, Elisa is one of the best.
2. Piece Of French
Piece of French is a YouTube channel with French teacher Elsa – not to be confused with Elisa above.
Elsa focuses on producing videos about her life in France that are designed to help people improve their French through listening to real dialogues in authentic French.
For example, there are videos on topics such as French food, digital nomad life, staying fit and much more, so you’re sure to be able to find topics that interest you.
In addition, she also uploads videos dealing with specific language topics such as the video on verbs that learners often mix up or the video on swearing in French.
Her videos are all in French, but she speaks slowly and clearly, especially in the videos intended for beginners, and they include subtitles, making them even easier to understand.
Another great YouTube French teacher and one who’s well worth checking out.
3. Learn French With Alexa
If you prefer a French teacher who speaks in English sometimes as well as in French, Learn French with Alexa could be among the best options. And with over a million subscribers, it’s clear that lots of other learners enjoy her lessons too.
On her channel, you’ll find videos on everyday French, a French Essentials course, her short Speak French with Me videos and longer 30-40-minute full lessons. She also offers live lessons for her channel’s members.
There’s so much content on her channel, and it’s easy to find material to watch according to your level, making this an extremely useful learning resource to know about.
4. Your Best French
Although Aurélie, who is responsible for the Your Best French YouTube channel, isn’t the most active and doesn’t have the largest back-catalogue of videos, she’s worth checking out because the content she has produced is all useful and of high quality.
Her channel includes a number of vlogs about French life, and since they’re made for learners, they’re easier than native-level videos because she speaks slowly and clearly using more simplified vocabulary.
Many of her videos include French and English subtitles, so that will also help you understand what she’s saying, and she usually includes vocab lists too. So, for example, in her video about collecting honey in Tahiti, the video includes a list of vocab relevant to the topic.
I also like her collection of “shorts” that deal with language points in small, bite-sized chunks, giving you useful tips on how to improve specific aspects of your French.
5. Français Facile Avec Cyril
YouTubing French teacher Cyril, from Français facile avec Cyril, hasn’t uploaded any new content for several months, so it’s not clear if his channel is still active. However, there’s plenty of good content on there already, making it another useful option for learners to know about.
On his channel, the oldest videos are dialogues animated using Lego characters, which is a creative and original idea if nothing else.
He also has a l’actualité en français facile (easy news in French) section where he uses current affairs to teach vocab and grammar points, which is also interesting. Although since he seems to have discontinued that idea, the news in question is all quite out of date now.
His most recent videos deal with basic French expressions for common day-to-day situations, and there are also a few videos focusing on essential vocab for A1-A2 levels. So his channel is likely to be of particular interest to beginners rather than intermediate or advanced learners.
6. Français Avec Nelly
Approaching half a million subscribers and with new videos being uploaded each week, Français avec Nelly is also another one to add to your list of study resources if you enjoy learning through engaging and useful videos.
YouTuber Nelly creates videos on a whole range of interesting topics. Some are more traditional French lessons dealing with particular grammar points like the difference between the imperfect and perfect tenses while others are lifestyle vlog-style lessons.
For example, I enjoyed watching the video about Nelly’s three-week trip to Vietnam and her experiences there. And I like the way she includes a downloadable PDF with all the useful vocab from the lesson, which helps you get the most from her video.
There’s also lots of content about tips for making your French sound natural and more native-like, all of which means this is a channel that can really help you improve your French.
7. innerFrench
innerFrench is a channel run by YouTuber Hugo that is intended to provide material in the form of podcasts for learners of French looking for material that will help them improve and develop their language skills.
Along with his regular podcasts dealing with various hot topics of the day, Hugo also uploads videos providing tips and advice for learning French – for example, what to learn next when you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the things you need to cover.
Most of the material on this channel is aimed at intermediate learners, so this one is of less use to beginners.
However, once you’ve mastered the basics and are looking for something a bit more challenging to help push you on to higher levels, innerFrench could be the next challenge you’re looking for.
French YouTubers Aimed At Native Speakers
When you reach a higher level, perhaps intermediate or advanced, you can also think about trying some native-level material.
Bear in mind that this can be hard, but you can always turn French subtitles on to help you, and many French YouTubers speak clearly and not too fast. So even non-native speakers can understand much of what they’re saying. Here are some recommendations.
Lifestyle
8. Sanasas – Lifestyle, Fashion and Beauty
Sananas is one of the best-known French YouTubers in the field of beauty, fashion, cosmetics and other related lifestyle topics.
It’s perhaps true that she speaks a little quickly – or at least she doesn’t speak slowly to make it easy for beginners to understand since her videos are aimed at native speakers – but if you have a high enough level, her content is full of useful vocab and expressions for you to learn.
At the same time, she has a bubbly and enthusiastic personality when talking about the topics she loves, which is one of the reasons she’s become so popular.
This means if you’re interested in videos about unboxing and testing makeup, clothes shopping, daily routines, beauty tips and the like, Sananas’ channel is certain to have plenty of content you’ll enjoy.
9. Aurélie Malau – Lifestyle and DIY
Aurélie Malau calls her channel Test and Lifestyle, and that should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Her videos are devoted to the unboxing and testing of all kinds of products related to tech, beauty and more – as well as to le bricolage (DIY), something she has a particular talent for.
She has also uploaded videos related to her travels, so in short, through her content, you can share in many aspects of her life. And since it’s all in French, you can pick up some new language as you watch.
10. Lysandre Nadeau – Lifestyle and beauty
A classic female beauty and lifestyle vlog, Lysandre Nadeau is actually a Québecois YouTuber with a following of 410,000 subscribers and counting.
Her content features swimsuit try-ons, morning beauty routines, travel abroad and the like – along with some other more, let’s say, risqué topics.
Nadeau was active on YouTube for around 10 years. But her output has dropped off notably more recently, with only a handful of videos appearing on her channel in the last three or four years.
Perhaps she made her YouTube fortune and decided she’d done enough – but in any case, there’s still plenty of content on there if you're interested in these kinds of topics, especially if you want to learn Canadian French.
Cooking
11. Chef Michel Dumas – French Cuisine
One of the things France is most famous for is its world-renowned cuisine, and if you want to improve your French through videos about French cooking – or just want to learn how to make a few delicious French dishes – Chef Michel Dumas‘ channel is a great place to start.
Admittedly, his French might be difficult for beginners to understand, although turning on the subtitles will make matters significantly easier.
Otherwise, I love his energy and passion for what he’s doing, and the food he prepares is sure to inspire lots of people to copy his recipes.
Food and drink are such an important part of French culture, and through YouTube videos such as these, you can gain an insight into the culinary world of the French. And perhaps learn to prepare the kind of food that’s sure to impress your friends.
12. Charles Gilles-Compagnon – Cuisine and Fast Food
For a less traditional take on food and culinary culture, Charles Gilles-Compagnon is a well-known French YouTuber who’s worth a look.
His videos are mostly about sampling various types of fast food from around the world. For example, one of his favourite themes is trying McDonald’s food in different countries, and you can watch his videos about his McDonald’s experiences in places like Dubai and Canada.
There’s also a video about sampling the worst sushi he can find in France and comparing it to the best.
His videos are always fun and creative, which is probably why he has almost six million subscribers. His French is fairly standard and relatively easy for anyone of intermediate level and above to understand.
He also produces videos in English. So you can watch those too when you’re feeling too lazy to watch in French and just want to enjoy some creative content by a French YouTuber.
13. La cuisine de Mwenge – Congolese Cooking
The YouTuber responsible for this channel isn’t French but a Congolese based in France. And through her channel, she shares her passion for the cuisine of her homeland.
One of the best things about La cuisine de Mwenge – other than the irresistible dishes she introduces us to – is the fact that this YouTuber speaks very slowly. So, even though the videos are not intended for learners, they’re mostly quite easy to understand.
The often exotic food she cooks also looks amazing, so as well as learning French through these videos, you’ll also be taken on a voyage of culinary discovery and will probably be inspired to have a go at making some of these recipes yourself.
14. Cooking with Morgane – Asian Cooking
Cooking with Morgane is the work of a native of Laos based in France. And if you’re interested in learning about the food of her country as well as the rest of East and Southeast Asia, her videos will soon have your mouth watering.
Although not as famous as the food of neighbouring Thailand, Lao food is arguably just as delicious, and you’ll be able to discover its delights with Morgane.
She also demonstrates how to make Korean dishes, food from China and more, all while speaking clear and simple French, making this another channel that will help you improve both your cooking and your French skills at the same time.
Funny French YouTubers
15. Norman fait de vidéos – Lifestyle and General Interest
Norman fait de vidéos is a YouTuber known for his short and humorous videos about just about any topic that comes to mind.
He’s uploaded vlogs about catching covid, the football World Cup, veganism, the French presidential elections and so much more.
With over 11 million subscribers, he’s obviously doing something right. And if you want some interesting French content with a few jokes along the way, this is likely to be just the kind of thing you’re looking for.
Beginners might find it a little hard to follow what he’s saying since his videos are made for native speakers. However, since he uses real, everyday French, you’re likely to pick up some useful expressions from him, and his content is always original and entertaining.
16. Natoo – Lifestyle and General Interest
Natoo's “about” section simply reads abonne toi on va rigoler (subscribe we’re going to laugh), and that pretty much sums up what you can expect on her channel.
It’s difficult to pigeonhole her channel since she deals with all kinds of topics. For example, one video is about the plague of bedbugs that recently struck France. And other videos document her travels or discuss topics as mundane as her breaking her finger.
This is useful to learners for a couple of reasons, however.
First, since the topics she covers are so diverse, it means you’ll get plenty of exposure to new and varied vocabulary – and second, it should be easy to find videos on subjects that interest you.
Her French, although intended for native speakers, is not too fast, and her pronunciation is clear. So most people with a decent level will be able to understand most of what she’s saying, even when some other native French-speaking YouTubers are still a bit hard to understand.
17. Cyprien – Humour and General Interest
Cyprien is a YouTubing French comedian, so if you want to learn French through humour, his channel is the place to go.
With 14.5 million subscribers, he’s also extremely well-known in the francophone world. So if you're learning French, he’s probably someone you should know about.
Rather than making straight-up comedy videos, he produces content about daily life, to which he adds his own particular brand of humour.
For example, you can check out his video about his experiences of becoming a father and all the hilarious situations that can arise along the way – something anyone else who also has kids will surely be able to relate to.
I like the way he speaks since it’s clear and not too fast, making him another YouTuber who will appeal to learners of French as he’s relatively easy to understand.
General Interest
18. Squeezie – General Interest and Gaming
After Tibo InShape (see below), Squeezie is probably the best-known and most popular French YouTuber, with over 19 million subscribers to his main channel and over 10 billion views.
Squeezie tends to upload at least a couple of videos each month. And although this might not seem like a lot, they are extremely high-quality productions, and it’s clear that a lot of work goes into each one.
As well as his main channel, Squeezie also runs Squeezie Gaming, which, as you may guess, is a channel dedicated to his gaming exploits.
Admittedly, his French is a little difficult to understand since he uses very contemporary vocab and expressions, so beginners might find listening to him tough going.
However, you can always turn French subtitles on to help you catch any words you might otherwise miss, and this way, you’ll be able to pick up some useful spoken French.
In any case, Squeezie is fun to watch and is a YouTube personality with charisma to spare, so he’s worth checking out – especially as he’s so well-know
19. Horia – General Interest
Horia is a French YouTuber who makes documentaries on a whole range of fascinating topics.
For example, she has a series entitled La sombre histoire de… (The Dark History of…) in which she looks at the unknown stories behind certain celebrities such as Jim Carrey, and other series include one on mysterious disappearances and another on the paranormal.
Her delivery is slow and clear enough for intermediate learners and above to understand with relative ease. And I also really appreciate the professional quality of her videos and the in-depth research that is obviously behind them.
She is still actively creating videos, with new uploads appearing every month or so. And once you watch a few of her videos, you’ll quickly understand why she has amassed over two million subscribers, placing her among the top French YouTubers.
20. Amixem – General Interest
Another of France’s best-known YouTubers with over eight million subscribers, Amixem makes videos on all kinds of topics including travel, experiences, discovery, humour, bargains and more.
His videos tend to be longer format, usually lasting anything between 30 minutes and an hour – although there are a few shorter ones on there too.
Some of the more original videos he’s made include one about buying the cheapest private island in the world and another about buying a house on Amazon.
There are so many other videos based on all kinds of crazy ideas and premises, so you’ll just have to have a look yourself to see what he gets up to. But with such a large number of followers, it’s obvious that many people enjoy what he does.
Sometimes his French can be a little difficult for beginners since he speaks normally without adapting the way he talks for learners. However, turning subtitles on will make it a bit easier, giving you access to another of France’s most popular online entertainers.
Other
21. Bruno Maltor – Travel
Bruno Maltor is a travel vlogger who has been uploading videos about his adventures around the world for over ten years. And he's now among the most popular and well-known French YouTubers.
His most recent videos include many about different parts of France. So they’ll be of interest if you plan to visit the country to practise your French.
He has also recently uploaded videos about his travels in the US. And before that, he was in Japan, so there are quite a few recent videos about his experiences there too.
It’s important to understand that these videos are not designed for learners, so the language he uses is native-speaker level. However, he speaks clearly enough for most intermediate and advanced learners to understand.
His content is well-made, and the travel topics he discusses are varied and original. Since most of his videos are only around 15 minutes long, they’re also a perfect length to fit a small slice of French learning into even the busiest day.
22. Tibo InShape – Health & Fitness
Among the best known of all French YouTubers, Tibo Inshape – real name Thibaud Delapart – specialises in uploading videos dedicated to fitness and especially bodybuilding.
This means if you enjoy watching videos about exercise and gym tips, Tibo’s is a channel you’re sure to enjoy.
However, he also uploads videos about other topics, sometimes health-related but also often about other issues connected to France and French culture. So you’ll also be able to learn a bit about the country while practising the language.
Since his videos are not aimed at learners, he speaks in real, full-speed French, so beginners might find some of his content a little too advanced.
However, anyone of intermediate level and above should be able to understand a good deal of what he’s saying. So if the kind of topics he deals with are of interest to you, you’re sure to find something on his channel to watch.
23. Nota Bene – History
With so much low-brow stuff on YouTube, it’s refreshing to find well-made videos about themes that are a little more cerebral – all while being short and quirky enough to still be interesting to a wide audience.
If that sounds like your kind of vibe, the Nota Bene history YouTube channel is one you’re likely to appreciate.
Nota Bene is hosted by Benjamin Brillaud, and it deals with all kinds of historical topics – usually of the kind you won’t find in your school textbooks.
For example, many people will be fascinated by the video on the history of beer. And other videos, such as the one asking if China was an Egyptian colony or another investigating if unicorns exist, are more tongue-in-cheek but still interesting and thought-provoking to watch.
In terms of the language, although the videos are aimed at native speakers, Brillaud’s delivery is clear and not too fast, making his videos accessible to learners at intermediate level and above.
24. Joueur du Grenier – Gaming
Although Squeezie (see above) also produces gaming content and has a larger following, Joueur du Grenier is probably the most famous French gaming YouTuber whose channel is dedicated exclusively to gaming videos.
Unlike a lot of gaming creators, rather than simply uploading videos of himself playing games, he dedicates his videos to providing fun reviews of games, including lots of retro games from the 80s and 90s.
There’s a huge amount of content on his site, including reviews of games you’d probably forgotten about or never even knew existed.
As is often the case, his French is likely to pose a challenge for beginners since it’s not aimed at non-natives. However, if gaming is your thing and you want to learn vocab and expressions related to your favourite hobby, Joueur du Grenier is likely to be able to help.
French YouTubers In English
Finally, if you just want some France-related content but don’t have the level to watch in French, you can also check out French YouTubers who upload videos in English. Here are just two you can try.
25. Loic Suberville – French Culture
Loic Suberville is an interesting French YouTuber to watch if you’re interested in learning about French culture.
He specialises in uploading videos investigating France, French culture and all the idiosyncrasies of his country with a wry, tongue-in-cheek humour.
For example, one video delves into the topic of whether the French are the best complainers in the world while another entitled “France Makes Everything Complicated” takes a look at France’s notorious bureaucracy.
Loic is great for anyone who wants to learn more about France from the point of view of a French person. And because his videos are in English, they’re accessible to everyone regardless of French level.
26. Lucile – French Culture and Travel
Like Loic Suberville, Lucile specialises in vlogging about her life in France and her travels abroad in English rather than in French.
This makes her channel a great resource for learning about French culture or preparing for a trip there – but it’s less useful for working on your French language skills.
For example, some of her most recent uploads include videos about what to do and what not to do in Paris, why she hates the Parisian girl stereotype and everything that’s wrong with the series Emily in Paris.
It’s all fascinating stuff, and she delivers her videos with a great sense of humour, making her videos a great place to go to get your fill of content about French day-to-day life.
